As you age, your cheeks may lose fullness and flatten out, and your features may begin to sag and become less firm. JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC is an FDA-approved dermal filler designed to temporarily correct age-related volume loss in the cheeks.
With proper and skillful administration, VOLUMA can offer patients from Danville, San Ramon, Pleasanton, and Walnut Creek, CA, smoother, fuller features and a more youthful appearance. Dr. Christopher Manios frequently employs VOLUMA to help those in his care eliminate unwanted wrinkles and restore natural contours to their face.
Trained as a plastic surgeon, Dr. Manios recognized early in his career the advantages that injectable products such as VOLUMA offered. Through years of practice, advanced studies at Harvard University, and ongoing professional development, he has dedicated his work to injectable solutions and dermal fillers. He brings extensive skills and an in-depth understanding of facial anatomy to these procedures.
Before & After – Treatment with VOLUMA®
The Benefits of VOLUMA
VOLUMA is one of several JUVÉDERM products that Dr. Manios provides to Danville patients. Like others in the JUVÉDERM family, VOLUMA is made from a modified form of hyaluronic acid. This substance is naturally occurring in the human body and promotes hydration and volume in the skin and tissue.
VOLUMA benefits from VYCROSS™ technology, an advanced manufacturing process that creates a smooth gel, which flows easily and consistently. When it is injected into the cheek area, VOLUMA:
- Adds volume and helps lift the cheeks to their original anatomic position.
- Improves sagginess around the nose and mouth and reduces the appearance of lines around the mouth and chin.
- Creates a smoother, firmer facial contour and more youthful appearance.
Depending on your metabolism and the amount of product you receive, the benefits can last up to two years. After this time, you can return to Dr. Manios for retreatment.
Dr. Manios’s Approach with VOLUMA
Patients in Danville will begin with a visit to Dr. Manios’s practice to discuss their concerns and to learn about options, including VOLUMA. A facial assessment will allow Dr. Manios to determine the best approach to treatment.
Dr. Manios’s general method is to emphasize the Ogee curve: the double S-shaped contour that gives the face dimension and the appearance of youth.
Illustration of the Ogee Curve
He tends to use VOLUMA to restore the curve because it is the best product to defy the effects of gravity and can consistently lift the cheeks to their original anatomic location. In some cases, patients may also lack medial cheek projection. To address this issue, Dr. Manios will recommend the use of other JUVÉDERM products in addition to VOLUMA to achieve a complete anatomical restoration of the cheeks. He may also use additional JUVÉDERM products to add volume to the medial cheek.
Dr. Manios follows a step-wise approach with VOLUMA and other dermal fillers. His goal is to use the appropriate amount of product to achieve the most attractive and natural-looking result possible. Following your first treatment, Dr. Manios will wait for any residual swelling to subside and then re-examine the area to determine whether another treatment is immediately necessary. Because his practice is designed to provide a boutique-level experience, he will take the time necessary to get the best results possible.
What You Can Expect with VOLUMA
Danville patients may be able to have treatment with VOLUMA on the same day as their initial visit. Alternatively, appointments can be made for a day that best fits their schedule.
During treatment, Dr. Manios will give you a topical anesthetic to numb the injection sites. He will also use lidocaine to keep you more comfortable and to limit bruising and sensitivity after your visit. Most patients experience minimal to no discomfort and are generally ecstatic with the results.
After your visit, you should be able to return to work or other activities. Dr. Manios will recommend that you avoid doing things immediately afterward that could irritate the treatment sites, such as applying makeup or abrasive facial cleansers.
VOLUMA provides up to two years of improvement. Following your treatment, you should see significantly younger-looking features, a smoother facial contour, and a reduction of lines and wrinkles.
